Representations of crime and criminal behaviour have long been central to the history of popular culture and now seem to dominate the landscape of the popular cultural imagination. In recent years, there has been an explosion of interest in the long-form television series that grapple with forensic dilemmas involving gangster and mafia groups, murderers, drug barons and corrupt political figures and organisations. This conference brings together members of the IAFP and the Media and the Inner World research network to explore the psycho-cultural appeal of well-known television dramas in which forensic themes play a key narrative role. The production of such drama is now big business thanks to the box set mindset it invokes and it is significant that forensic ideas often lie at the heart of the storylines. An exciting programme of panels and discussion groups will address a number of key questions around the fantasies at play, what the forensic themes tell us about the psychodynamics of contemporary society and how can a dialogue be created with media and cultural studies academic researchers. Please see below for booking.

IAFP members should login to receive a discounted price of £65. A discounted price is also available for members of Media and Inner World (£65), employees of the NHS, BFI, BAFTA and the BBC (£65) or for students (£45). To obtain a voucher code that activates the discount, please first contact genevieve.baker@uwclub.net.

If paying by cheque, a maximum of three weeks will be allowed between registration and receipt of cheque to: IAFP, Suite 30, 101 Clapham High Street, London, SW4 7TB. Please make cheques payable to International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy.
