Dr Francesco Spadaro is a psychiatrist working in the Italian national health system. He trained at Catania Medical School where he obtained his medical degree in 1986 and his Specialty in Psychiatry in 1990. He held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Pharmacology, Louisiana State University, USA and is now an Honorary Member of the same Department. Dr Spadaro was founder and head of the Multicultural Psychiatric Unit, Department of Mental Health, Catania, from 1998 to 2004.
Dr Spadaro is a full member of the Italian Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Society (SIPP, member of EFPP). Within the Training Institute he teaches Theory of Tecnique and Postfreudian Models . He is also a member of the Board of SI-EFPP. He works with out-patient forensic patients, both in the public sector and in private practice. Dr Spadaro has studied and published on the mind functioning mechanisms of perverted and criminal patients. He is the co-editor of the book Il Fanatismo.
